I am deeply humbled – and grateful – that my journey has been recognised by several accolades in the realm of research and science over the years.

However, this is more testament to the collective efforts of dedicated colleagues and mentors than anything else. Also, while these achievements underscore the impact of my contributions, I remain steadfast in my commitment to advancing knowledge. The accolades, though appreciated, are mere milestones in the pursuit of understanding the intricacies of our world and environment.

For those interested, here are my various recognitions over the years:

• I was the winner of the 1^st Prize at the European Commission’s EUvsVirus Hackathon with the Sewers4Covid solution, an event focusing on battling the COVID-19 pandemic with about 9,000 participants from all over the world that took place on April 24-26, 2020.
• I was selected as keynote speaker at the United Nations Water Conference 2023 in New York City, on March 22-24, 2023.

• I am the co-author of a published book, titled, Dealing with the Complex Interrelation of Intermittent Supply and Water Losses (IWA Publishing, 2017).

• I am the co-author of a published book by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, titled, The gateway to the future of the Mediterranean: Water, energy, food and the environment (Publications Office of the European Union, 2023).

• I was a Member of the Greek government’s enterprise delegation, led by the Minister of Development, that visited the UAE for the Expo 2020 Dubai event, during February 2022.

• I was selected as a Reviewer of the Chapter 4, Water, in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) report, AR6.

• I have been an Associate Editor of the Environmental Systems Engineering of Frontiers in Environmental Science, one of the largest research publishers and open science platforms globally.

• I am a Member of Africa-Europe Foundation Working Group on Climate Change.

• I am a Member of the Steering Committee of the Nexus Project Cluster.

• I was selected to assist with the scoping of the nexus assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food, and health, in the context of climate change, for the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

• I was a speaker and co-organizer of a side event at the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24) in Katowice, Poland in 2018.

• I was the Vice Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Environment at the University of Thessaly, Greece during the period 2018-2020.

• I have been a Guest Editor in several journals, including: Journal of Environmental Management, Water MDPI, Sustainability MDPI, and Toxicological and Environmental Chemistry Journal.

• I am the Vice Chair of the International Conference on Environmental Management, Engineering, Planning and Economics (CEMEPE).

• I was a Finalist for Woman of the Year under the “Scientist” category by the Life & Style magazine in 2004.

• Following Storm Daniel and Storm Elias, I was selected by the Governor of the Administrative Region of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas, as a Member of the Scientific Committee for the reconstruction of Τhessaly.
