120 participants from various regions across Europe convened to deliberate on Greece’s future prospects and to investigate strategies to convert Greek cities into Wellbeing cities. Notably, Greece was the first Southern European nation to host an event of this nature, which is anticipated to extend its reach to 25 additional countries worldwide.
Hearth Summit is to investigate the challenges faced by both large and small cities in Greece and to collaboratively design practical solutions aimed at fostering sustainability and enhancing the quality of life for all social groups and economic activities present within these urban environments. The central theme for dialogue and exploration will be framed through the lens of ecology and environmental awareness.
Parallel Session on Air Quality Monitoring
HOW TECH CAN PROTECT AND IMPROVE AIR QUALITY INSIDE CITIES
‘A great event that brought us in contact with citizens, citizen scientists and other important stakeholders that were excited to explore our initiatives about transport-related air pollution.’
I commenced the session in my capacity as the head of One Planet Thessaly. I presented an overview of the MI-TRAP project, which aims to improve air quality through innovative monitoring strategies. Subsequent to my introduction, Manos Manousakas, a researcher at NCRS Demokritos, delivered an extensive presentation that detailed essential components of air quality measurement, encompassing methodologies and the importance of community engagement.
During the session, the participants engaged in substantive discussions regarding the co-creation of effective air quality monitoring strategies. They shared success stories while also addressing the challenges inherent in this critical process.
