Professor Chrysi Laspidou, in her role as Vice-Rector for Innovation, Internationalization, Collaborations, and Digital Governance at the University of Thessaly, as well as the Head of One Planet Thessaly, represented the University at the inaugural conference of the National Network of Technology Transfer Offices (METEX). The conference was held from December 6 to 7 in Heraklion, Crete, where the University of Thessaly was a participating member.
The conference was organized by METEX, in collaboration with the University of Crete and the Region of Crete, and aimed to strengthen networking and cooperation among the 34 members of the Network nationwide. The initiative encompasses contemporary themes, speakers from both Greece and international contexts, task forces, case studies, and roundtable discussions, among other activities. The conclusions derived from this initiative will be published and are expected to contribute to the advancement of Technology Transfer Offices within universities and research centers in Greece.
Key objectives of the conference were as follows:
– Strategies for the Protection and Exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights: This section analyzes the methods by which innovative ideas and technologies can be safeguarded and utilized effectively.
-Business acceleration structures: The role of business accelerators and the significance of Proof of Concept in the development of new enterprises.
– The developmental aspect of the innovation ecosystem in the Region of Crete: A dedicated session focusing on regional innovation and the enhancement of collaborative efforts.
Ms. Laspidou participated in the Round Table during the 8th Session of the Conference held on Saturday, December 7, where strategic issues and best practices in the domain of technology transfer were deliberated.
Ms. Laspidou’s participation underscores the University of Thessaly’s commitment to promoting innovation, technology transfer, and the connection of research with the market and society. Her contribution to the conference is expected to enhance the outward orientation and dynamic presence of the University at both national and international levels in the field of innovation.
