Professor Chrysi Lapsidou, who holds the position of Vice-Rector for Innovation, Internationalization, Collaborations, and Digital Governance at the University of Thessaly, also serves as the Work Package Leader for the Enhance project. She attended and actively participated in the Kick-Off Meeting, where she contributed her insights regarding the presentation.
She expressed her enthusiasm for participating in the Enhance project, where she will lead a Work Package. The project proposes an analysis based on the One Health framework, utilizing satellite data and incorporating citizen science, with a case study focused on Thessaly. She is confident that, alongside her esteemed partners and colleagues, the next three years will be enjoyable and will yield significant results.
ENHANCE project is a collaborative initiative aimed at the protection of coastal ecosystems through innovative solutions. By integrating the One Health approach with advanced satellite data, AI technologies, and citizen science, ENHANCE empowers stakeholders to address the pressures affecting environmental, human, and animal health. Our mission is to protect and restore vulnerable coastal areas, ensuring sustainable management for a resilient and thriving future.
Enhance Key Objectives:
– Safeguard and rehabilitate coastal ecosystems by employing integrated One Health and DPSIR (drivers, pressures, state, impact, and response model of intervention) approaches.
– Utilize artificial intelligence and satellite data to monitor and evaluate the health of humans, animals, and the environment.
– Engage Citizen Science to collect local insights and improve coastal management strategies.
– Facilitate stakeholders in making informed decisions to promote sustainable coastal resilience.
– The development of innovative tools and products to facilitate climate adaptation and enhance coastal protection is essential.
– Foster collaboration among policymakers, researchers, and communities to facilitate meaningful change.
