Rabat, Malta on 14th of May: NexusNet Regional Stakeholders Forum on Resource Recovery and Reuse on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus for a Low-Carbon Economy. Τhe event was organized by NexusNet Cost Action and hosted by EWA, Water and Energy Agency, Government of Malta

With great pride, NexusNet hosted the NexusNet Regional Stakeholders Forum on Resource Recovery and Reuse on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus for a Low-Carbon Economy in Chajn, National Water Conservation Awareness Centre, Rabat.

I delivered the Opening Presentation along with Manuel Sapiano and Malta’s Minister of Environment, Energy and Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, Miriam Dalli. The event was a resounding success, shedding light on crucial aspects of sustainability and collaboration.

Interconnected Solutions: We delved deep into the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and integrated solutions addressing the nexus between water, energy, and food systems. Case studies showcased how the WEF-Nexus fosters synergies, driving comprehensive and sustainable solutions that advance the EU green agenda and support multiple SDGs.
Policy Integration: Discussions revolved around the pivotal role of policy frameworks and governance structures in promoting resource recovery and reuse. We explored how well-crafted policies can drive the adoption of sustainable practices, aligning with the green agenda and supporting specific SDGs, such as water quality, energy access, and food security.
Community Engagement and Social Impact: Emphasizing community involvement, we showcased successful models that enhance the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives. These models not only contribute to achieving SDGs related to social equity, poverty reduction, and community resilience but also foster a sense of ownership and empowerment among communities.

By bringing together experts from academia, industry, and policymaking, our forum aimed to provide a comprehensive exploration of how the WEF-Nexus catalyzes the EU green agenda and facilitates progress towards resource recovery and reuse. Attendees gained valuable insights into transformative strategies and collaborative approaches, fostering a more sustainable and interconnected future.
