The Internship and Career Office of the University of Thessaly, in collaboration with the Vice-Rector for Innovation, Internationalization, Collaborations, and Digital Governance, Professor Chrysi Laspidou, organized a “Career Day” on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Domotel Xenia hotel in Volos. This event provided a valuable opportunity for students and graduates to engage with the business community.

In the context of the continually evolving requirements of the labor market, this event served as a significant bridge between academic knowledge and professional careers, thereby improving the prospects for the immediate employment of graduates in competitive sectors. The purpose of the event was to facilitate interactions between students and graduates of the University of Thessaly and representatives from 33 prominent companies within the country, enabling them to engage in face-to-face discussions regarding career and internship opportunities.

Vice-Rector Chrysi Laspidou remarked, “we made significant efforts, successfully engaging 33 companies that possess considerable influence within their respective sectors and across a diverse array of activities. Our objective is to enhance the organization of the career services office, and we are currently in the process of submitting a new ESPA proposal that includes additional initiatives. Our primary output is our graduates. The participation of these 33 companies at the ‘Career Day’ indicates their interest in recruitment. We have assisted students in preparing their resumes, conducting interviews, and understanding the expectations of the labor market. The event highlighted the demand for staff, even in Volos. Furthermore, some graduating students have expressed interest in internship opportunities. Overall, we are very encouraged by the positive response.”

At the event, priority was given to graduating students and alumni of the University of Thessaly, who were provided with the opportunity to engage in individual interviews with the heads of Human Resources from various companies. Participants were able to take advantage of networking opportunities, gain access to job and internship positions, and receive career guidance and counseling. Furthermore, the University of Thessaly reinforced its relationship with the labor market, fostered strategic partnerships, and affirmed the high quality of its services by investing in the education and career development of its students.

The event, being open to the public, attracted graduates from various universities who expressed a keen interest in networking with the distinguished executives of the participating companies.
