The Visit of the Ambassador of Denmark, Per Fabricius Andersen at the University of Thessaly

Professor Chrysi Laspidou, the Vice-Rector of Innovation, Internationalization, Collaborations and Digital Governance welcomed the Ambassador of Denmark in Greece, Per Fabricius Andersen, at the Univesrity of Thessaly, along with Charambos Billinis, the Rector of University of Thessaly and Professor Georgios Stamoulis, a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Thessaly. The Ambassador was accompanied by George Gerovasilis, the Consul General of Denmark in Volos.

The primary focus of the meeting was the internationalization of Greek universities and the enhancement of relationships between the University of Thessaly and academic institutions in Denmark. Additionally, the discussion addressed the issue of brain drain, which is a concern for both countries, and the strategies they are employing to mitigate this phenomenon. Furthermore, topics related to the agri-food sector were explored, particularly the practices that Denmark implements to promote societal and regional development—an area that is central to the scientific mission of the University of Thessaly.

The Ambassador expressed interest in the substantial funding that the Rector has secured for the University of Thessaly, which is aimed at advancing its infrastructure, scientific research, and various academic programs.

Finally, Ambassador Mr. Andersen expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended and emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration among European universities.
