Visit of High-Level Delegation from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications to the University of Thessaly

‘Internationalization is my favorite part of my Vice Rector portfolio! I greatly enjoyed hosting colleagues from the well-respected University BUPT in China and we promised to continue our already collaboration!!’

A high-level delegation from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, led by Vice President Jianhua Zhang, visited Volos on November 5 and 6. This visit was organized by Professor Chrysi Laspidou, the Vice Rector for Innovation, Internationalization, Partnerships, and Digital Governance. The Rector of the University of Thessaly, Professor Charalampos Billinis, warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration and the university’s commitment to fostering an outward-looking approach. The visit was held at the Papastratos building in Volos and included the participation of esteemed professors from the university’s Volos and Lamia campuses.

The team from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) comprised several key individuals, including Xiaofei Ma, the Deputy Director of the Development Planning Office; Wei Chen, the Deputy Director of the Undergraduate Affairs Office; Miaofeng Xie, the Deputy Director of Century College; Yuan Yao, the Associate Dean of the School of Electronic Engineering; and Yuanmeng Cai, the Head of the Office of Extroversion and Networking.

The purpose of the visit was to enhance collaboration between the two universities, focusing on the development of student exchange programs and research partnerships in the areas of telecommunications, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital humanities. Representatives from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) showcased their innovative educational and research initiatives and engaged in discussions with the academic staff of the University of Thessaly regarding potential new collaborations. These efforts aim to optimize the utilization of the existing cooperation and student exchange agreements between the two institutions.
