World Book Day! || Celebrating the Power of Books in Shaping Minds and Futures

Reading can Seriously Damage your Ignorance!

Today, we are reminded of the enduring impact of books, not only in academia but in shaping a more educated, empathetic, and sustainable world.

As a Vice Rector and University Professor, I am constantly reminded of the transformative power of books, not just as vessels of knowledge, but as bridges between ideas, people, and cultures. They challenge us to think critically, dream boldly, and empathize deeply. They are where innovation begins and the foundations of education are laid.

Books play a vital role in advancing SDG 4: Quality Education, by unlocking access to knowledge, nurturing curiosity, and promoting inclusive learning for all. Whether it’s a student discovering a new passion or a researcher exploring the unknown, books are where transformative journeys begin.

In academia, we often measure success in publications and citations, but behind every breakthrough is a bookshelf stacked with inspiration. Today, I celebrate the authors, researchers, and students who contribute to this living world of ideas.

Let’s continue to celebrate the written word, support equitable access to education, and inspire the next generation of thinkers and changemakers.

Let’s keep reading, keep questioning, and keep growing.
